In the Nebrodi Mountains there are some of the most important and high altitude wetlands in Sicily, and this excursion, in the most eastern part of the Natural Park, will take us to visit some beautiful water mirrors, set among green pastures and surrounded by thick woods. At first we will enter in the itinerary of the ” Nebrodi Ridge”, at Floresta town, and we will arrivel by car to the Pisciotto Lake. Then we will begin to walk to the beautiful Trearie Lake, surrounded by green forests to the east, in contrast with white limestone, and by green meadows and pastures to the west; from here we’ll easily arrive to Cartolari Lake, at the base of the beautiful beech forest of “Piano di Palma”. After completing the circumnavigation of the lake and stopping in the picnic area near the lake, we will reach the route of the “Nebrodi Ridge” and come back, downhill, to the starting point.
